Hans Webbink, founder and CEO of Steeler Yachts, is a tireless trendsetter who never stops thinking of new ways for clients to experience motoryachting. The original inspiration for the “Flyday” is a typical example of how fresh ideas come to light at Steeler, based on the specific needs of clients and Webbink’s personal experiences.

“In summer 2017 we accepted a flybridge boat from another brand in part exchange for a new Steeler,” he recalls. “As Steeler did not offer a flybridge model at the time, I took her out for a spin in the Med to get a feel for this type of cruising. The sense of freedom and space provided by a full-beam flybridge impressed me, but I was less enamoured with being so high up.

“Why do flybridge yachts always have to have three decks I thought, especially now glass can be used as part of the lower deck structure? Together with our design team, we therefore designed a new flybridge concept which combined the traditional main deck and lower deck into a single floor. If there’s ever been a boat design where the word compromise has been eliminated, the Flyday may well be the one.”

Over the past decade Steeler Yachts has developed a formidable reputation for its ability to deliver an exceptionally high quality of construction, engineering and finish. The yard has already thought ahead by offering options such as Volvo Dynamic positioning, reverse-cycle air conditioning, and an alternative for a bimini in the form of a T-top aluminium frame that folds hydraulically over the front windscreen.
